Whether you’re at the club, out to dinner,or (most embarrassing!) at the office, a split zipper in your pants or skirt can be a fashion emergency. That’s why we’ve called in style innovator and CEO & Founder of House of Skye™, Skye Drynan to share her expert trick so you can easily fix a split zipper in mere seconds.
First, you need your supplies to be at the ready. As a fashion designer, Skye always has ribbon handy, but a shoelace will also work in a pinch. You will also just need about six to 10 safety pins, depending on the size of the split.
Start by fastening a safety pin below where the zipper stops so it doesn’t end up sliding down. Then line up safety pins horizontal and parallel to one another on each side of the zipper.
Now, it’s time to bring the two sides together to avoid showing any skin.
Finish this simple style hack by lacing the ribbon through the safety pins like you would a shoe, tighten the ribbon and tie securely together. “Voila, fashion disaster averted!” exclaims Skye.
