King Charles III
The eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, King Charles III was raised in Buckingham Palace alongside his younger siblings Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
Charles became the first heir to the British throne to graduate college in 1970, earning his degree from the University of Cambridge. He served in the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy from 1971 to 1976. Before tying the knot with Princess Diana in 1981, he dated Camilla Shand (later known as Camilla Parker-Bowles) and Sarah Spencer.
Charles and Diana welcomed son William in 1982 and son Harry in 1984. Despite facing years of marital tension and infidelity, the royal couple did not divorce until 1996. (Diana died one year later.)
Charles went on to marry Camilla in 2005. Charles was the longest-serving British heir apparent in history before his mother’s death in September 2022. His coronation was held in May 2023 at Westminster Abbey in London. Camila was crowned queen alongside her husband.
